Music

"Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music; make music to the Lord with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing" Psalm 98:4-5

Music is an essential component of Covenant Christian School.  One of the keys of our mission statement is that we strive to develop “productive, faithful members of the kingdom of God”.  The study of music fosters this goal in three ways: developing worshippers, inspiring creativity and a love for music, and cultivating basic music skills.

Worship

Music is one of the greatest tools available to us in our worship of God.  Therefore, one aspect of each music class will be learning hymns and worship songs.  Students will begin each class by singing these selections. “Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.” John 4:23

Inspire

Another aspect of the music program is to inspire students to be creative in their expression of music and to foster a lifelong love and appreciation for this gift.  This will be accomplished through singing, movement, instruments, composition, listening, and learning some music history.

Cultivate

Cultivating basic music skills is an essential part of the music program.  All students will be learning the elements of music appropriate for their level: rhythm, pitch, tone color, dynamics, melody, harmony, instruments of the orchestra etc.
