Philosophy and Distinctives

Covenant Christian School is committed to shepherding middle school students through the challenging transition between elementary school and high school. We believe middle school students have unique needs, both academically and socially and we seek to meet those needs in a variety of ways. The academic rigor of CCS middle school is significant. We believe this increased responsibility is appropriately balanced with a measure of privilege and leadership development.

Three times per month the middle school has a chapel service that is separate from elementary students. This provides the opportunity to worship and be challenged by the Word at a level that is commensurate with their maturity.

Middle school students are given the opportunity to practice loving leadership by working with younger readers as “book buddies”. They also occasionally lead aspects of worship in combined chapel services.

Select uniform pieces are available exclusively to the middle school. During the 2010 – 2011 school year an outdoor lunch area with picnic tables will be introduced, designated for the middle school.

The annual middle school retreat is a highlight event. Students bond in a special way during this time of fun and spiritual refreshment.

CCS 8th graders enjoy an annual end-of-year trip to celebrate their graduation from CCS. This trip has typically been to the historic port city of Charleston, South Carolina.
